Green businesses need to take the leap and embrace social media marketing. Whether you are selling eco-friendly handbags or wind turbines, you can use social media to interact with your target audience and, eventually, create new sales opportunities. The following tips will help you start your social media campaign and take it to the next level.
Make it Easy for Your Audience to Join the Conversation
When you are writing content, try to encourage your audience to participate. Often your audience will feel intimidated reaching out to you, answering a question you pose or interacting with you in any way, so try to remove these barriers as much as possible. Avoid using jargon your audience will not understand, make your posts accessible to everyone in your target audience and write content that is approachable. Imagine that you are talking with your consumers, not at them. Approachable content is also important to engage with your employees. Provide a set of guidelines for your employees that lets them know what is expected of them online.
Write Shareable Content
The more good content that you write, the more your content will be shared online. The more people share your content, the more exposure your business receives and the more you build your brand. Do not be intimidated by the idea of writing “share-worthy” content – it is easier than you think. Use the opportunity to share information about your company, your industry and add value to the conversation happening online.
Write Consistently
Nothing is worse than a company that starts a Twitter account or Facebook company page, posts a few times and does not post again for two months. Social media must be a consistent to engage with your target audience. There is a lot of noise in the social media world, if you cannot participate on a regular basis, you will be forgotten.
Participate in Other Blogs and Conversations
You do not have to start a conversation to add your opinion to it. Comment on blog posts written by leaders in your field, as this will introduce you to new audiences. Make sure these blog comments are well thought out and add to the conversation, or the blog owner may delete the comment. You can also answer questions posed by groups on LinkedIn. Demonstrate your expertise in a field by sharing your knowledge with others in your LinkedIn groups. If you answer enough questions, people will see you know the industry and will begin to trust you and your company.
Keep Your Brand Consistent
When someone searches for your company on Google, that person should find your website, Facebook page, Twitter account, LinkedIn account and other social media platforms. Keep your company name and logo consistent across all of these platforms. Whenever possible make your “avatar”, or picture, your logo. This not only reinforces the idea that the Facebook page or Twitter account do belong to your company, it is another place to have your logo before your audiences’ eyes.
Social media does not need to be intimidating or unattainable for your organization. Write content that is easy to understand, interesting and encourages participation. Share information consistently and keep your branding the same across all social media platforms. Implement these tips today and get ready for your social media marketing to be more successful than you ever imagined.
